Red Lake formed naturally in the Mountains Hasmasu Mare

Red Lake was formed naturally in 1837, after the collapse of a slope of the Ghilcos Mountains, nearby the confluence of several streams. It is situated in the Hasmasu Mare Mountains (Romania), at an altitude of 983 meters, has an area of 114,676 sq meters and a depth of 10.5 meters. The alluvium brought by the water, settle on the lake bottom, decreasing gradually its size. For this reason, it is estimated that around 2080, the lake will disappear.
The picture was captured with a Nikon D40X camera and Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX lens, using these settings: focal length – 50 mm, exposure time – 1/250 sec, ISO 400, lens aperture – 5,6.
