Amanita muscaria var. alba is a poisonous mushroom. Besides other harmful substances, it contains muscarine and muscimol, which have toxic effects on the nervous system. The mushroom ingestion causes a syndrome known as muscarian. The first symptoms appear within 15 to 30 minutes after ingestion and consist of salivation, perspiration, lacrimation, followed by nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea. Also, may occur neurological disorders – delirium muscarian and hallucinations. The antidote is atropine.
The picture was created with a Nikon D40X camera and Nikon 55-200mm VR AF-S f/4-5.6G ED lens, using these settings: exposure time – 1/30 seconds, focal length – 200 mm, ISO – 400, F- number – 5,6.
