Common chicory (Chihorium intybus) is native to Europe, Asia and North Africa, also naturalized in Australia and North America. It is a medicinal plant and also a very popular coffee substitute, which is obtained from the roots harvested preferably in the September-October months. After being roasted and fine grinded, is prepared a drink that tastes like coffee.
