At the lake edge, a shore of reed grows in abundance, both shore and water surface. It’s roots can reach up to 2 meters. Cane rhizomes are edible. In the past, in times of famine peasants had ate the boiled rhizomes. They can also be dried and ground, thus being obtained a nutritious flour.
