Greater Periwinkle (Vinca major) is native to the western Balkans and Southern Europe. It is a blue flower that blooms from April to June. It contains two alkaloids, used in pharmaceutical industry: “reserpin” and “vincamine”. Both substances have vasodilator properties, thereby reducing the blood pressure.
The picture was taken using a Nikon D40X camera with Nikon 55-200mm VR AF-S f/4-5.6G ED lens and these settings: focal length – 200mm, exposure time – 1/320 seconds, ISO – 200, lens aperture – F/5.6.
