Blue flowers of Scilla Bifolia in March

Scilla Bifolia is widespread in Europe, North Africa and Asia, being found mostly in deciduous forests. Its name comes from the two basal leaves. Blooms in March – April, its flowers being small, blue, scented. It contains a toxic substance – scillitoxina and a glycoside cardiotonic – scilaina. In doses over 3g/zi, it produces arrhythmias, even cardiac arrest; in doses of 1-2g/zi has emetics properties, being also, diuretic and expectorant.
The picture was created using a Nikon D40X camera and Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D AF lens, with the following settings: focal length – 50 mm, exposure time – 1/400 sec, ISO – 100, lens aperture – F/3,5.
