Calimani have appeared after volcanic eruptions in Neogene period (55 million years ago) thus being the youngest mountains in Romania. Successive lava flows have led to the formation of layers of rocks that then were shaped by glaciers, torrents.
The image was taken with a Nikon D40X camera and Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX lens, using these settings: focal length – 18 mm, exposure time – 1/125 sec, ISO 100, lens aperture – 4,5.
