Silver fir tree (Abies alba) is originally from Europe (Alps, Carpathians, Pyrenees) being found at an altitude of 800-1250 m. The trees grow to a height between 40 and 50 meters, trunk diameter reaching up to 1.5 meters. It was the first fir species used as Christmas tree. It is often confused with spruce (Picea abies).
