Pinus mugo is a tree native to Central and Southern Europe, being found in mountain areas at altitudes between 1500 and 2300 meters. Rarely reaches a height of 3 meters. It has a very slow growth, but the maturity is reached at ages 6 to 10 years. Longevity is about 300-350 years. Young shoots and cones due to their high content of volatile oils, alcohols, tannins, resins, minerals, vitamin C are known in natural medicine for soothing properties, thinned and expectorant of bronchial secretions.
