The frozen water in thousands of snowflakes, reflects in all directions the sunlight brightness in a cold, serene, winter day. The snow background, faithfully copies the uneven ground on which it is located, and so the oblique rays of sunlight highlight these irregularities, creating an alternation of lighted and shaded portions.
